Rate Your University Online

Set up two years ago by Bath Spa student Hagen Christoph, Younilife was founded out of a need for a site where past & current students could rate their university experience online, to provide prospective students with actual ratings from people there – not the flashy, bells & whistles approach taken on University open days. “I wanted to get independent advice on Universities to help prospective students” says founder Hagen: “I also felt students should be given a chance to share their views about their University of choice.” From there the site has continued to grow & grow and now receives around 31,000 visits every month, mainly from the UK but also from abroad. The rating service is very popular and includes league tables of Universities based solely on student ratings.

Despite it’s main feature being the rating service, Younilife now boasts incredibly useful features, including an Accommodation service for any major city in the UK, aimed at those moving out of halls for their second year. “Snoop”, a service which allows you to keep you to date with the local pubs, clubs & shops gives you information such as special offers & events which are going on in your area.

One of the newer features is the Student Music charts, where student bands can upload their songs and get rated. Younilife has partnerships with many student radios – including Bath’s own URB in which the top songs on the site are played on air across the country on multiple student radios. You can listen to and rate the songs directly on the website.

The newest feature is a student jobs search, which does exactly what it says on the tin and will make job searching much easier and less painful for students looking to get a part time job whilst studying.

As well as all that, Younilife has a blog full of student news and some very bizarre stories – perfect for killing some time at home and having a laugh at the same time.

And finally how could I forget Younilife’s very own “Hot or Not?” competition aimed at finding the best looking students from across the country, both male & female. Upload a picture and other members can rate you – all for fun of course. If you think you’ve got what it takes, head to hotornot.younilife.com and submit a picture!

If you wish to find out more about the site, go to younilife.com and check it out. It really is a valuable resource, this article has barely scratched the surface of the amazing things the site has to offer.
